I have kind of put a lot on my plate these last few weeks. Every project is a red letter priority. I secretly love being busy so no complaints!
First things first! Please show your support and come down to the Kelowna Community Theatre Saturday, Jan 30th from 1pm to 10pm for a fundraising event. Helping Hands for Haiti – Musicians from every genre will be on hand performing and taking your money to give to our brothers and sisters over there. Every penny we contribute, our Canadian Government has promised to double! Imagine if it was us in that situation? Bernie, Neville and I will be performing at 2.30pm for a 20 minute slot and I will be hosting some of the event – Please come. Even just to make your donation. Okay back to our normal news about Jazz Café. February is the month to be reminded about LOVE (mmmmm). On the 17th we are focusing on songs that celebrate it. Either we are spell bound or just plain tuckered out by it, there’s a song on the night for you. Our special guests this month is US! I’ve been asked by so many of you to sing more, so… I’m going to! I’ve also asked Neville to sing some of his beautiful original songs and hopefully we have a little duet or two together. And Of course you will hear the most intelligent, inspiring instrumental jazz weaving through our vocal laments so please let me know A-sap if you are bringing guests. I want to ensure the most comfortable space for you, my lovely members.

Wednesday, Feb 3rd - Encore! 2010 “The Vibe & Jive of Live Music”, I have been asked by the music department of KSS to sing at their annual concert featuring multi-award winning musicians from KSS, Night Owl Orchestra at Kelowna Community Theatre. These young musicians could be a Jazz Café Bursary candidate or even future band members at Jazz Café! This is very exciting for me. Rosemary Thomson, OSO Music Director & Conductor will also be a guest the night before. Tickets, including two night ticket packages are available at the door or at Kelowna Secondary School’s main office (1079 Raymer Ave.) Ticket Information: 250.762.2805 ext. 264 Price: Adult $15, Sr. & Student $10.
Saturday, Feb. 13th - Valentine Jazz at Streaming Café www.streamingcafe.net at 8pm pst. The Venue are applying for a liquor license, so come on down to 596 Leon Ave and enjoy a night of jazz OR stay in, enjoy your own tipple and tune in ON-LINE! This is a perfect opportunity to tell all your friends that you know around the world to join you in a global cocktail party! Bernie, Neville, Scotty, Craig and myself will all be there performing, as well as special vocal guest Amanda Morazain.
