December 2009 Members Newsletter
Good day like minded mentors! As Jack Frost nips our noses and we get closer to the festivities of lights, gifts and yes; the celebration of the birth of baby Jesus AND the lighting of the Hanukah candles, we remember traditions and pass them forward. I sit in front of my window and gaze through branches of fallen leaves to write this December newsletter. Keeping my toes warm in my sheepskin slippers and covered up in snowflake PJ’s of warm flannel, a hot cup of Earl Grey…hmmm now I can write you.
This month at the club: Thursday December 17th – Jazz Café
Our guest on stage is vocalist Ashleigh Somerville. The release of her first full-length CD project “Peace, Love, Joy”! It’s a joyfully eclectic mix of fun, fresh renditions of classics like The Christmas Song and Little Drummer Boy, a beautifully haunting version of The Huron Carol, and a handful of sparkling originals, like ‘Joe the Snowman’, hailed as a Canadian classic-in-the-making!
The album features our very own Jazz Café musicians and I’ve wanted to have her do the Christmas show since I first heard the CD in July!
It’s going to be a holly jolly jazzy night out so please let me know ASAP if you need to reserve tickets for your guests – 250 763-6141

December Calendar of GIG dates:
December 1st – Watergarden on Ellis St. Wine and cheese shopping night with music provided by Anna Jacyszyn & Neville Bowman. This is our 3rd year doing this evening of beautiful things that Linda the proprietor organizes each year – a one stop shop for beautiful gifts. 4pm – 7pm
December 3rd – SOPA Gallery on Pandosy. This invite only Christmas party celebrates all that is great in Kelowna. Music by Anna Jacyszyn, Neville Bowman & Bernie Addington. Deborah runs this gallery with class and grace. Buying a piece of art through SOPA means you have made a worthy investment and you have a quality piece of art. Phone the gallery and get yourself an invite. 6pm – 9pm
December 5th – Cabana Bar & Grille on Lakeshore. The first Saturday of every month Anna and two Jazz Café musicians perform for the dinner patrons at this busy restaurant. Ned, Jay & Mike create a perfect place for a fun evening out of great food, drinks and of course, the music! 8pm – 11pm
December 10th – Ricardo’s Mediterranean Restaurant in Winfield. Every Thursday is Live Jazz at this bubbly, intimate bistro bursting with charm. Anna Jacyszyn, Bernie Addington & Neville Bowman sharpen their jazz chops while diners absorb the fantastic atmosphere and taste the culinary delights of Ricardo’s menu. $5.00 off any bottle of wine as well!
December 12th – Sir Winston’s Pub in Vernon. Pub night out in Vernon that gives the trio a chance to perform in a more relaxed environment to convert more into loving the jazz genre.
December 17th – Jazz Café at the Black Box on Water St. Hot Toddies and mulled wine on the menu!
December 31st – Kelowna Community Theatre Party. Celebrate New Years Eve with Anna Jacyszyn, Bernie Addington & Loni Moger also on main stage John Lee Sanders Band with Danny McBride. A whole lot of Music and Fun. Get the details from the theatre and let’s celebrate 2010 together.
