FEBRUARY 2013 NEWSLETTER JAZZ CAFÉ
Whew! So we (OK me, Anna) managed to slip by January. All those resolutions should have started to fade in our memory as our real life trickles through diluting our dreams and ambitions. But darlings, we are baby stepping into a month that the Romans used as their purification month – yes that’s right, it’s THIS month of februum that we (OK me, Anna) should start our detox, taxes, read more, learn more, get healthier etc…(that’s probably why the Romans chose the shortest month of the year – SMART!) But I bet there are still more of you out who just associate this short little month with Ground Hog Day (2) Super bowl (3) and Valentine’s Day (14). I Love February! It’s packed with so much to do for sweet hearts and singles. Please Read On.
Pasta, Blues & Wine - Yes what a combo! I’m starting off my month of performances perfectly! The Dreamland Band have invited me once again to sing at this Rotary Club Event on Ground Hog Day – FEBRUARY 2ND at Winfield Memorial Hall: 10130 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country. Advance tickets see www.dreamlandband.ca for a list of places. Tickets are $20 cash at the door (no minors) or call John 250-717-7615 Limited seating.
Sunday February 17th is this month’s Jazz Café with Special Guests: The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio. I took the opportunity to host this fabulous artist while she is in BC. A talent from Toronto, Elizabeth’s debut album 'Start To Move' was voted one of the top jazz albums of the year by the listeners of the influential Gilles Peterson Show on BBC. Ever since then she continues to strengthen her hold on the Canadian Jazz Scene. NOT TO BE MISSED! Email me on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. "> This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 250 763-6141 to secure your space for this rare opportunity to see Elizabeth Shepherd in Kelowna. P.S. Please, Please would you bring an extra $20 to the Jazz Café in order to purchase the Artists CD. Jazz Café can’t pay the Big Money that this kind of talent deserves. In order for band to break-even by coming west, they rely on CD sales. Please, Please show your support by purchasing one or more CD’s. A treat for your shell-likes and an amazing cash bonus for hard-working Jazz Musicians! Thank you for taking this note seriously. Xx
Sunday Brunch Club at the Train Station is such a success! Every second Sunday (Feb. & Mar. 10 & 24) I get to sing there – this month with the lovely and super talented; Neville Bowman and Bernie Addington- from 12 – 3pm. The Vibe is amazing, the food is fresh and tasty and of course it’s a pub so the atmosphere is relaxed and warmed by LIVE JAZZ MUSIC. Thanks to Tree Brewing who sponsors this great thing to do on a Sunday after-noon. Get some chums together and make that excuse to all meet up (after church perhaps?) or get out of bed and have a little date and go as a couple!
Vintners Poolside Lounge – have invited me once again to perform the weekend of Feb 15 & 16. The Line-up is of course the uber talented and amazing Bernie Addington along with my favourite guitarist Mr. Loni Moger. We are performing both nights from 7.30-11pm so book a table or pop by and enjoy the ambience of Live Jazz at the Coast Capri Hotel off Gordon and Hwy 97
